Once the OpenSesame integration is set up, content flows automatically from your OpenSesame account into Learn Amp. This article explains how the synchronisation process works, what triggers updates, and what happens to your content along the way.

Functionality Breakdown

The Sync Process

The OpenSesame integration uses a two-part synchronisation approach:

1. Initial Sync

When you first save the integration:

• Learn Amp connects to your OpenSesame account using your Customer Integration ID

• All available content in your OpenSesame subscription is fetched

• Each course is downloaded as a SCORM package

• Content is created in Learn Amp as e-learning items

• This process runs in the background—you don't need to wait

2. Ongoing Webhook-Based Sync

After the initial sync, updates happen automatically:

• OpenSesame sends a webhook notification to Learn Amp whenever content changes

• Learn Amp processes the notification and syncs only the changed content

• This includes new courses, updated courses, and deactivated courses

• The timestamp of each sync is recorded to ensure only new changes are processed

What Happens to Each Course

For each piece of content from OpenSesame, Learn Amp:

1. Downloads the SCORM package from OpenSesame

2. Creates an e-learning package in Learn Amp's system

3. Creates a corresponding item with the course details

4. Sets default visibility and settings

5. Makes the content available in the library

What Happens When Content Changes

New Content Added

When new courses are added to your OpenSesame account:

1. OpenSesame notifies Learn Amp via webhook

2. Learn Amp fetches the new content details

3. The SCORM package is downloaded

4. A new e-learning item is created

5. The item appears in the library with default visibility (entire company)

Content Updated

When existing courses are updated:

1. OpenSesame notifies Learn Amp via webhook

2. Learn Amp finds the existing item using the source ID

3. The item's title, description, and image are updated

4. The SCORM package is not re-downloaded or replaced—only the metadata is updated. To pick up updated course content, the course must be added again as a new item.

5. Learner progress on the existing item is preserved

Content Deactivated

When courses are removed or deactivated in OpenSesame:

1. OpenSesame notifies Learn Amp via webhook

2. Learn Amp finds the corresponding item

3. The item is archived in Learn Amp

4. Archived items are no longer visible to learners but data is preserved

Language Handling

OpenSesame content is available in multiple languages. Learn Amp handles this by:

• Mapping OpenSesame language codes to Learn Amp locales

• Creating content in the appropriate language

• Falling back to your company's default language if needed

Supported languages include those configured in your OpenSesame account that match available Learn Amp locales.

Q: Can I manually trigger a sync?
The sync is fully automatic. If you believe content is missing, contact support—they can verify the webhook connection and trigger a re-sync if needed.

Q: What if a sync fails?
If an individual item fails to sync, the error is logged and the sync continues with other items. Failed items will be retried on the next sync.

Q: Are learner completions affected when content updates?
No. When content is updated, existing learner progress and completions are preserved. The item record remains the same—only the metadata is updated, and the existing SCORM package is left in place.
