Finding and Adding Opportunities

Finding and Adding Opportunities

Overview

Opportunities in Learn Amp help you discover meaningful development activities that align with your skills and career goals. The browse and search functionality makes it easy to find relevant opportunities, understand how well they match your profile, and add them to your personal development plan.

This guide walks you through finding opportunities that matter to you and adding them to your profile for tracking.

Functionality Breakdown

Browsing Opportunities

The Opportunities area provides several ways to discover relevant activities:

  • Search – Find opportunities by keyword

  • Filter by Skills – Show opportunities that develop specific skills

  • Filter by Roles – Show opportunities relevant to particular roles

  • Sort options – Arrange results by match score, date, or name

Understanding Match Scores

Each opportunity displays a Match Score showing how well it aligns with your profile. This percentage is calculated based on your skills:

Match Score = (Your Skills ∩ Opportunity Skills) ÷ Total Opportunity Skills × 100

For example:

  • An opportunity requires 4 skills

  • You have 3 of those skills

  • Your match score is 75%

Higher match scores indicate opportunities where you already have relevant experience, while lower scores might represent stretch opportunities for growth.

FAQs

Q: How is my match score calculated?
Your match score is based on the overlap between your profile skills and the skills associated with the opportunity. The more matching skills you have, the higher your score.

Q: Can I add an opportunity with a low match score?
Absolutely. Match scores are guidance, not requirements. Adding opportunities outside your comfort zone is a great way to develop new skills.

Q: How do I improve my match score?
Update your skills profile to reflect your current capabilities. As you gain new skills and add them to your profile, your match scores will adjust.

Q: Can I remove an opportunity after adding it?
Not at the moment. Removing an opportunity from your own list is not currently possible in the platform. This is a known issue and a fix is in progress.

Q: Why can't I find a specific opportunity?
Check your search terms and filters. The opportunity may not have the skills or roles you're filtering by. Try clearing filters and searching by name.

Q: What if no opportunities match my profile?
Speak to your administrator or manager. New opportunities can be created to support development areas relevant to your role and goals.

Troubleshooting

Issue

Solution

Issue

Solution

Can't find the Opportunities section

Check that Opportunities is enabled for your organisation. Contact your administrator if it's not visible in your navigation.

No opportunities showing

There may be no opportunities created yet, or filters may be too restrictive. Clear all filters to see the full list.

Match score seems wrong

Ensure your skills profile is up to date. Match scores are calculated against your current skill profile.

Can't add an opportunity

Check if you've already added it. Each opportunity can only be added once to your profile.

Filters not working

Try refreshing the page. If issues persist, clear your browser cache or try a different browser.

Search returns no results

Try different keywords. Search looks at opportunity names, so use terms likely to appear in titles.
