Auto-Assign Certificates for Events
Overview
Auto-Assign Certificates automatically issue certificates to learners when they complete an event. This removes the manual work of certificate creation and ensures every learner receives recognition for their achievement immediately upon completion.
You can choose from standard certificate designs or use custom templates, and configure whether certificates expire or remain valid indefinitely.
Functionality Breakdown

Learner attends and has attendance marked

FAQs
When exactly is the certificate issued?
Certificates are issued when attendance is confirmed and the event is marked complete. For automatic attendance, this happens shortly after the meeting ends.
Can learners download their certificates?
Yes, learners can download certificates as PDF from their profile or the certificate notification.
What information appears on the certificate?
Typically: learner name, event name, completion date, and expiration date (if applicable). Custom templates may include additional details.
Can I issue certificates for past events?
Auto-assign only works for future completions. For past events, certificates can be manually issued by administrators.
What happens when a certificate expires?
Expired certificates remain visible but are marked as expired. Learners may need to retake the training to receive a new valid certificate.
Can I change the certificate template after certificates have been issued?
Changes only affect future certificates. Already-issued certificates retain their original design.
Are certificates included in reports?
Yes, certificate data appears in learner profiles and can be included in various reports.
Can learners share certificates on LinkedIn?
Certificates include a unique verification URL that learners can share. LinkedIn sharing depends on your certificate configuration.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Certificate not issued after completion | Verify auto-assign is enabled. Check attendance was marked as "Attended". |
Wrong certificate template used | Check the event's certificate settings. Changes only affect future issuances. |
Certificate showing wrong expiration | Review the expiration settings on the event. Dynamic expiration calculates from completion date. |
Custom template not appearing | Ensure custom templates are uploaded in company settings and active. |
Learner didn't receive notification | Check the learner's email preferences. Verify their email address is correct. |
Certificate not appearing in learner profile | Allow a few minutes for processing. If still missing, check the event completion status. |
