Social Features

Overview

Social features in Learn Amp help create a connected, collaborative learning community. Users can interact with content and each other through @mentions, likes, and sharing—making learning feel more engaging and less isolated.

These tools encourage people to connect, help surface great content, and make it easy to recommend learning to colleagues.

Functionality Breakdown

@Mentions

Tag other users anywhere conversations happen in Learn Amp. When you mention someone using the @ symbol, they receive both an email and in-platform notification—making it a brilliant way to draw attention to content or start a conversation.

Learn Amp supports three types of @mention:

Mention Type

What It Does

Where It Works

Mention Type

What It Does

Where It Works

@[person's name]

Notifies a specific individual

Communities Social Feed, Q&A and Discussion on Items/Channels/Learnlists/Events, Survey response boxes, Notes sections on Teams pages, User profile pages

@[team name]

Notifies all active members of a team

Communities Social Feed, Q&A, Discussion, Reviews, and Notes

@here

Notifies all active members of the current Community

Communities Social Feed only

Where you can use @mentions:

  • Communities social feed

  • Q&A and Discussion sections on Items, Channels, Learnlists, and Events

  • Survey response comment boxes

  • Notes sections on Teams pages

  • User profile pages (your own or others')

💡 Tip: You can only mention users who have permission to see the content you're commenting on. The platform automatically filters the list to show only eligible people. @team and @here mentions follow the same permission rules.

Likes and Favourites

The heart icon lets you save content you want to revisit — building your own curated library as you go.

How it works:

  • Click the heart icon on any Item, Learnlist, or Channel to save it

  • Access all your liked content via the "Liked" filter in the Library

  • Unlike content at any time by clicking the heart again

Sharing

Share content with colleagues to recommend learning you've found valuable. Sharing sends a notification and adds the content to the recipient's "Shared with you" widget.

Key points:

  • Share any type of content: Items, Learnlists, Channels, and Events

  • Recipients receive email and in-platform notifications

  • Shared content appears in the "Shared with you" dashboard widget

  • Recipients can dismiss shares they no longer need

FAQs

Q: What happens when I @mention someone?
They receive both an email notification and an in-platform notification. The email includes the content title, your message, and a direct link to view the mention.

Q: What happens when I @mention a team?
All active members of that team receive both an email and in-platform notification, just as they would for an individual mention.

Q: What's the difference between @here and @team?
@here notifies all active members of the current Community and is exclusive to the Communities Social Feed. @team lets you notify a specific named team and works across all mention-enabled areas including Q&A, Discussion, and Reviews.

Q: Can I mention someone on hidden content?
Only if they have permission to view it. The mention dropdown automatically shows only users who can see the content—typically Curators and Admins for hidden Items.

Q: Where do I find content that's been shared with me?
Shared content appears in the "Shared with you" widget on your dashboard. If you don't see this widget, ask your administrator to add it to your dashboard.

Q: Can I remove content someone shared with me?
Yes — click the three-dot menu on the shared content and select "Dismiss share" to remove it from your widget.

Q: Do likes affect how content appears to others?
Likes are personal—they help you save content for later. Average ratings (from Reviews) may influence how content is surfaced to others.
