Learn widgets are the foundation of your learning experience in Learn Amp. They help users discover content, track progress, and engage with assigned learning. From quick search functionality to personalised recommendations, these widgets create an intuitive pathway through your organisation's learning content.

Learn widgets are available to all organisations with the Learn package.

Task Widgets

To-do List

The To-do List widget surfaces time-sensitive activities that require action: Tasks, Events, 1-to-1s, and Surveys. It is available on Company, Manager, and Team Dashboards and displays up to 40 entries total (20 per category).

Due Soon Widget

The Due Soon Widget displays a tabular list of users who have upcoming learning deadlines within a configurable time window (next 3, 7, 14, or 30 days). It tracks tasked items, learnlists, channels, 1-to-1s, event enrolments, and surveys. Results are sorted soonest-first, so managers and admins always see the most time-sensitive items at a glance.

Most Completed Content Widget

The Most Completed Content widget shows which content has been completed by the greatest number of distinct users. It ranks content by unique completion count—not by a completion rate or percentage—making it a useful signal of what your learners are actively finishing.

Configuration Options

When adding or editing the Most Completed Content widget, you can configure the following:

Excluding Tasked Completions

The Exclude tasked completions checkbox lets you filter out activity records associated with a task. When enabled:

• Only completions with no linked task are counted — items completed as part of a tasked channel or Learnlist are also excluded

• A pill reading Excluding tasked appears above the widget data to indicate the filter is active

• Content completed because a user was assigned it directly via a task, or via a tasked channel or Learnlist, is excluded from the ranking

This is particularly useful when you want to surface content that learners are choosing to complete on their own initiative — with the right filters applied, you can see genuine self-directed engagement, separate from compliance or mandatory training.

⚠️ Important: The Exclude tasked completions checkbox only appears when the verb is set to Completed. Changing the verb to Started, Clicked, or Viewed will automatically hide and reset the checkbox.

Promotional Widgets: When to Use

Featured Channel

Bring important Channels to the forefront of your Dashboard.

Best for:

• Highlighting company updates and announcements

• Promoting campaigns (Diversity & Inclusion, Mental Health Awareness)

• Providing easy access to policies and procedures

• Spotlighting new or seasonal content

Visibility Rules:

⚠️ Important: If you feature a Channel with "Selected" visibility, only users who have access to that Channel will see the widget.

Featured Video

Display a video prominently on your Dashboard.

Best for:

• Sharing a message from the CEO

• Welcoming new learners

• Highlighting new initiatives or announcements

• Featuring inspirational content (e.g., TED Talks)

Videos can be embedded from YouTube, Vimeo, and your own hosted content.

Featured Image

Display images to bring visual interest to your Dashboard.

Best for:

• Sharing infographics

• Displaying promotional posters

• Adding branding elements

• Creating visual breaks between content

💡 Tip: Use different sizes and positions for your images to create an interesting, magazine-style layout.

External Link

Link to external resources and websites.

Best for:

• Creating a central hub linking to other tools

• Providing quick access to external systems

• Linking to intranet or HR resources

• Connecting to partner or vendor sites

💡 Tip: Opening links in a new tab lets learners easily switch between Learn Amp and external resources.

Banner

Add a full-width banner to your Dashboard.

Best for:

• Promoting campaigns or events

• Displaying seasonal messaging

• Adding branding elements

• Creating visual sections on your Dashboard

Learn widgets require the Learn package and relevant features to be enabled.

Quick Start Guide

1. From the sidebar, select Dashboard

2. Click Add Widget beneath the banner

3. Select the Learn category

4. Choose your desired widget

5. Configure settings such as time period, filters, or content selection

6. Click Add Widget — if configuring Most Completed Content, you can tick Exclude tasked completions to show only self-directed completions — those not driven by a task assignment, including items completed as part of a tasked channel or Learnlist

💡 Tip: Place action-driving widgets like Assigned Channels and To-do List at the top of your Dashboard where users see them first.

FAQs

Q: Why doesn't my Featured Channel show all Channels?
Featured Channel only shows Channels with "Entire company" visibility. Use Visible Channels to show all Channels visible to each user.

Q: What's the difference between Assigned Channels and Visible Channels?
Assigned Channels shows Channels that have been assigned as Tasks to the user. Visible Channels shows other Channels the user can access but hasn't been specifically assigned.

Q: Why don't Channels appear in the To-do List?
Channels don't appear in the To-do widget. Use the Assigned Channels widget to display Channels assigned as Tasks.

Q: Is there a limit on the To-do List?
Yes, the To-do List displays a maximum of 40 entries total, with a limit of 20 per category (Tasks, Events, 1-to-1s, Surveys).

Q: Does 'Pick Up Where You Left Off' show most recently viewed content?
No—it shows content by most recently started, not most recently viewed. It displays items started but not completed.

Q: Can I choose the order of Channels for the Visible Channels widget?
Yes. From the sidebar, select Manage, then Channels, click Actions, and select Re-order Channels. Note that not all Channels are visible to all users, so the order is indicative.

Q: How can I show an assigned Channel on the Dashboard?
Use the Assigned Channels widget. To make sure a Channel appears there, edit the Channel, go to Dashboard Visibility, and set it to "Everyone in [company]" or "Selected".

Q: Will the Assigned Channels widget disappear when a learner completes all tasked Channels?
No—the widget remains visible but displays an empty state with a message to "Contact a system admin to get more content assigned".

Q: Does Most Completed Content show a completion rate or percentage?
No. The widget ranks content by the number of distinct users who completed it—it is a count, not a rate. The content with the most individual completions appears at the top.

Q: Why has the Exclude tasked completions checkbox disappeared from Most Completed Content?
The checkbox only appears when the widget verb is set to Completed. If you change the verb to Started, Clicked, or Viewed, the checkbox is automatically hidden. Switch back to Completed to restore it.

Q: Does the widget update in real time?
The widget shows the most recent data available when the Dashboard loads — it refreshes each time you reload the page rather than updating in real time.
